Mantis crane on the job in Antarctica!
This Mantis crane is a true workhorse, helping Morrison Construction, a British company build a research station in Antarctica. Scott Powerline sold the crane to Morrison and is in constant contact with the company via email and telephone with technical support.
According to Morrison personnel, the crane is working exceptionally well on all surfaces – ice, groomed snow and driven snow. Because of the extreme weather conditions, Scott Powerline’s technical expertise on a 24/7 basis has been very instrumental in keeping the project moving forward.
Before getting to the work site, the crane had to track across a mile of sea ice and make a 12-mile trip aboard a sledge. In fact, even before it was put ashore, it was called into service to help unload cargo from the ship that transported it.
