Scott Powerline Participates In Hurricane Recovery, Recognizes Utilities’ Efforts and Manpower

Scott Powerline & Utility Equipment’s yard is normally filled with every kind of utility equipment imaginable. Recently, it was just about empty.

After Hurricanes Gustav and Ike assaulted the coasts of Louisiana and Texas, the need was immediate for manpower and equipment to help restore devastated areas. Monroe, Louisiana-based Scott Powerline was quick to respond. The company’s fleet was rapidly dispatched to all the many areas ravished by the storms.

Many Skylift Mini Derrick 33 Plus rigs, for example, were deployed, including the actual 500th production unit, which was sent to Houston, Texas, for use by Wilson Construction of Canby, Oregon. And the 100-ton Mantis 20010 telescopic boom crawler was doing heavy-duty recovery work in and around the Plaquemine, Louisiana, area. Scott Powerline also served as a way station, housing 40–50 units overnight while enroute to Conroe, Texas.

"These companies and crews are doing an amazing job. They are working incredibly hard, long hours, staying in cramped quarters or in their trucks sometimes. It’s truly remarkable,” Tom Scott, Jr. founder and president of Scott Powerline, said. “Scott Powerline & Utility Equipment proudly salutes these utility companies and their crews for all their valiant work to help Louisiana and Texas recover from these terrible storms."
